Secondo: Polenta alla Spianatora
This dish translates to polenta on a board (think of it as a traditional Italian shared platter treated like a charcuterie board), a rustic meal of polenta served as dinner during the cold winter nights. Usually, polenta and meats are served as separate courses, but this dish combines them into a hearty, comforting main. Covered with slow-cooked tomato sauce, Italian sausage, pork rib, and liberally sprinkled with Parmigiano cheese, our individual portioned version will drive the winter cold away. A vegetarian option is available.
Dolce: Pastiera Napolitana
This specialty dessert, served during the winter in Italy, is especially popular at Easter. Eggs, sugar, rice, and ricotta cheese are combined with citrus zest and cinnamon to create a creamy filling that is encased in a delicate pastry crust, which is then baked until golden. Bellissimo!
